Donald. I have a number of the photos you need from my '65 396 coupe (red exterior/white interior). Send me your email address and I'll email them to you.

Re: 65 inner door paint ??
Donald. Here is one photo. It was taken right after I bought my car. It was parked in an old dirty desert barn in Phoenix, AZ where it sat from 1972 until I bought it in 2007. Everyone called it the "mud car" when I first bought it, but it had alot of originality.
Hope this helps.

Tony(which I kept a copy of). Can't remember if your car is A or S-body, but pics pretty well define the break line between exterior / interior colors on original paint.
Did you (or anyone else) ever hear if there was a difference (even if slight) between the break lines on A.O. Smith versus St.Louis bodies -- there does seem to be variations on almost everything else. The wording of the '65 TIM&JG implies all '65s were the same, regardless of body source.

Nice shots, Tony.
Don, it is critical to note that originally, the break line at the rear of the door is at a 90 degree angle to the upper door, not horizontal with the world.
No, Wayne, we have not seen a good deal of variance between the two body vendors in that area.
SOP's and specs must have been quite clear.
Perhaps the GM'ers can elaborate.

Wayne. Does this glamour shot look familiar? It was pretty dirty when I got it. After I pulled the body and washed the chassis, all the factory black and paint daubs were still there. It has been a pretty fun project.

Re: 65 inner door paint ??
The specs WERE quite detailed, and were issued as "Paint Instructions" from the Chevrolet Paint Standards Department; that same group also issued the "Painted Parts List", which listed all the parts that required assembly plant painting and exactly how they were to be processed. Both of these were strictly internal documents between Central Office and the plant Paint Superintendent, and none have ever been seen outside the plant.- Top
