    Copo

What is the difference between an Executive Vet that was owned by an Executive and had the car built with specific options, verses a COPO vet.

    Thanks,

    Sam

Sam, I'm not sure where you get the term "Executive Vet" but to my knowledge there was no such term used within GM to order vehicles.

COPO's were (Chevrolet) Central Office Production Options and REQUIRED an engineering evaluation to determine if such a configuration could be manufactured.

Art, not really a Corvette term, But my car was once owned by a GM Executive, he had the car built to his specs. I wanted to know if it was a COPO car as well? I can send you the specs if that helps.

      Thanks,

      Sam

I'm very sure it is NOT a COPO, but sure send them.

              Re: Copo

Depending on the year it could have been whats commonly referred to as a drive and buy. GM execs who get company vehicles for daily use also have to buy a new car from GM every few years as part of the PEP program (product evaluation program). Generally they can specify and order any GM vehicle, drive it as their company car and then purchase it from the company at a steep discount. Usually Corvettes are restricted to the higher level employes.

If he was and the car was indeed sent back to Detroit, as you claim, it no doubt was sent either to GM Styling Studios or Chevrolet Engineering and a work order or shop order would have been written for any work done.

It's a very nice looking car.

We never took the door panels apart. We mostly did allot of cleaning to the car. I do still see original marking on the car. On the fire wall and elsewhere.

                    Thanks,

                    Sam
