Re: 525 Viscosity Mineral Oil
Pat:
Go to your NAPA parts store like Jim suggests and ask them for the oil, or to order it. IT IS in their parts books (including on-line version) but you need to know where to go look. I personally bought from NAPA recently.
Also, I also bought a quart of the OC-1 from O'Reilly Auto Parts here in New Orleans a year or so ago. They had it on the shelf in the back.
I will post a link for you in the next hour or so.
EDIT: Go to napaonline.com. Near the bottom of the page, find and "click on" PARTSPRO SE Catalog. Once on this page, use the SEARCH function and search by PART NUMBER for TEM209500. A nice picture of what you seek will come up....with additional information and a note that it cannot be ordered on-line, but requires buying at your nearest store.

Re: 525 Viscosity Mineral Oil
Pat: have you tried a local A/C repair shop? They might even give it to you since there's almost zero call for it anymore.
When I restored my '65 A/C system, I found some oddball parts at the oldest A/C shop in town. Like the felt ring that goes in the compressor snout to absorb oil seepage.
Just out of curiosity, are you planning to run a shield on your compressor to control oil sling?- Top

Re: 525 Viscosity Mineral Oil
Larry,
I called NAPA and they found the part. You're correct, it can be found via the via website based on the the instructions you gave. The search by "PART NUMBER" is key.
Do you know how many ounces are in that bottle? It doesn't state that on the website and the NAPA person did not know.
I attached the website link via a .txt document since this post kept truncating the link due to the specials contained within it.
Thanks,

Searching out older AC shops is a good idea, who knows what you will find. Yes, on the compressor shield, ordered it a couple of weeks ago.

Re: 525 Viscosity Mineral Oil
Pat,
It you take a close look at the image of the bottle on the NAPA website it appears to be one quart bottle, which would be more than enough to fill the system.
Mineral oil is a lot like brake fluid in that it readily absorbs moisture so you should only use oil from a sealed container so you know that it isn't contaminated.

1 quart plastic bottle. All you should ever need. Also use it on the o-ring AC connections and threads when assembling the system.

Adding Oil to a dry System
The system capacity on my '65 is 11oz of oil, but I recall the manual instructed to add x oz to the compressor, y oz to the receiver/dryer, z oz to the condensor, etc.
Seemed like a pretty logical idea. Used a graduated squeeze bottle with a plastic line to inject the oil into the various inlet fittings. (Beauty supply shops have a great selection of plastic bottles)- Top
