    C1 transmission yoke markings?

I have a Spicer transmission yoke on my 59 corvette. I know this, because it has Spicer stamped right on it in plain sight

I would like to get an original corvette transmission yoke. My understanding is that the input shaft (C-length?) is 4 7/8". Are there any identifying markings on the yoke? Could someone post a pic so I know what I'm looking for?

Also would it have been painted black?

    thanks as always!

the other post was deleted so this is the good post. Does anyone have any ideas on the transmission yoke?

Couple of photos below of a typical C1-only slip yoke; the tubular section is 4-1/2"-4-3/4" long (vs. 3-1/2" for the passenger car yoke). Wouldn't surprise me if Spicer was the original yoke supplier; Chevrolet didn't make them - it was an outside-purchased part.

The two yokes look different. wonder if there were multiple suppliers and designs? Anyone else have some pics to compare? Should the yoke be bare metal or painted black?

              Ian -

              It was an unpainted forging.

Does anyone know if the original yokes actually have "SPICER" stamped on them?

No photo Ian but mine never had markings and looked a lot like Johns photo. The finish should be as Johns magnificent photos are natural finish. Stewy

I've owned my 62 for 38 years and it has a Spicer yoke with the long snout. I also have another original yoke marked with "SPICER" Rich

I just purchased a 16 spline yoke with the long spline new from a corvette supplier. It appears to be a casting and not a forging. the casting looks like the chinese variety and every yoke I have ever seen has been forged so i'm concerned. Does anyone know if a good forged repro exists for the T10 4-speed?

I ended up getting a good used one through the driveline.

I just looked at my 57 and I do not see any markings on it. I have another yoke too, that is identical (source unknown). Both both are 3-1/2 long. So it sounds like I have the wrong yoke for my car. Would not surprise me. Everything else is wrong with this car.

The driveshaft does say "SPLICER USA", and a part number, on the inside of both end caps.

                              Dan,
The 3 1/2" yoke is from a passenger car. The longer yoke is C-1 Corvette. Rich
