C3 AC Delco fuel pump #s

I'm a bit confused on what is the correct fuel pump for '75 350. The JG states 6470308, but my AIM states 6440769.

I have what I believe to be my original pump which has AC cast into the side and 40769 stamped on the bottom rear mounting flange. I plan to get it rebuilt and replated if correct.

I'm the original owner and always asked for used parts back from my mechanics as things got replaced over the years!

    Thanks for your help,

GM #6470308 was the SERVICE part number for the AC type 40769 fuel pump which was known in PRODUCTION as GM #6440769. However, I don't think that 6470308 was ever stamped on any fuel pump. It could be found only on a Delco box that the SERVICE fuel pump was supplied in, but I don't rule out the possibility that it MIGHT have been stamped on some SERVICE fuel pumps. Generally, when this fuel pump was still being manufactured by Delco, either for PRODUCTION or SERVICE, it was stamped either "6440769" or "40769".

      Joe,
You're the man! You've helped me out again this weekend. The JG states the GM # is stamped on the pump, but you're correct because my original pump has the AC# (40769) stamped instead. I'm glad all the numbers relate.

Guess you can tell I'm building a '75 motor for judging, huh?

      Thanks again.

The cast AC and the configeration are judged. The part number is too hard to see or can't be seen so I do not go their. Keep in mind the manual is a guide and is never perfect and in this case gives information not used in judging the car.
