    The judges would be in the same position that you're in- can't see the casting numbers to confirm. The pump is judged by general configuration and appearance only.

      Thanks to everybody that replied. I think I will try Joe Lucias idea. I will look close enough for what I do with the car.

        Here's a picture of the water pump on my 72 LT1. I believe it is the original water pump.
