    Frustrating day

Had one of those days today that we all have . Backed my 55 out of the garage to replace the water pump and could not get it to start again. Engine would turn over but no start , took me about three hours to find that the key switch rear tangs that the harness push on to were corroded .The good news is when I remove the driver bottom seat to get under the dash I found three dollars in change. The weather was in the 80's so I took a ride on my copper HD to relax. How many have a HD so when you get frustrated you take a ride to get a cold beer?

Roy, Sorry to hear of your troubles, but a good find after all. So you were able to fill up the tank of your HD with the money you found!

When I had a bad day I'd drop the top on the '59 and go for a ride in that. Always made me feel better.

I have taken a ride on my 69 Triumph motorcycle if that counts. Makes me smile when it starts on the first kick.

          Roy,

That's exactly what I do with my Harley after a hard day, take a cruise for a cold beer. I feel much better afterwards. Nothing like the rumble of a Harley, well sides pipes come close.

Hey hello. Too bad you live so far away. This Sunday, we have the blessing of the bikes at Bald Knob Cross.

The Christian Motorcyclists Association in Southern Illinois will hold the 17th Annual Blessing of the Bikes at Bald Knob Cross this Sunday, April 27, 2008.

Bald Knob Cross is located near Alto Pass, IL.

Last year they estimated 5000 bikes attended. The weather will be sunny in the eighties and the sight and sound of all those bikes is just amazing. The theory is that if your bike is blessed, no accidents or mechanical failures.

I'll be there with my softail springer.

We should start a similar thing for corvettes.

              Sounds like fun Roy !!

You can buy a gallon and a half of gas with that 3 bucks and ride for a couple of hours !!

I am leaving on my Electra Glide in one hour for a 3 day blast throught the Smoky mountans. See you guys when I get back !

Very nice scoot Roy. Like Pat I do the same, after a long week working in DC, I head back to Roanoke and take the HD out on the Blue Ridge Parkway and stop for a cold one. Later in the day the Vette comes out. Life is GOOD
There are two kinds of friends; the friend you call to bail you out of jail and the friend sitting next to you in the cell saying "Damn, that was great"!!!

I know what you mean, Roy. I sometimes wonder do I take the HD or the vette? It doesn't matter because they're both "Mental floss".

After you clean the oxide off BOTH the switch terminals and their contact counterparts in the wiring harness connector, consider coating the switch contact terminals with a daub of silicone grease... That'll thwart continued oxidation of the contact surfaces due to exposure to the atmosphere!

My next-door neighbor has a Harley with straight pipes. One day I started the 396 with sidepipes in my garage, and the neighbor's 10-year-old son came outside to say "Dad, I thought that was your Harley!"

They do sound the same from inside the house!

Better go in the house and check the couch too.

Not a Harley, but I will jump on the old 750 Honda K3 or the Goldwing. Maybe the Bridgestone 175 if I feel like being a kid again, which is always. The beer will be cold when I get back home.
