I am in the process of removing the wiper motor asm in my '63. I have removed all four screws from the inside and removed the retainer. From the AIM it looks like the motor should be loose but it is not. Any help on what I am missing would be appreciated. I hate to have to do this job as the motor works great but the previous owner thought it looked better all black!

Re: '63 wiper motor removal
I recently had to remove the wiper motor from my '63 coupe and send it out for repair. If you have removed the clip the holds the wiper arms to the lever pin, wire harness connections/hoses and have removed the four attaching screws you are good to go. The motor in my coupe had some strip caulk around the hub of the motor and was "stuck" to the firewall. Get a grip on the round motor housing and pull forward, the motor should come free. I also removed the distributor cap & rotor and was able to carefully remove the wiper motor from the car by rotating the pump end forward and lifting it out between the distributor and driver's side ignition shield bracket. The service manual recommends removing the ignition shield bracket and the ballast resistor, I found that this wasn't necessary. I sent my wiper motor to Corvette Specialties of Maryland for repair and was very pleased with the results.
