    1956 engine pad photos wanted

I am looking for pictures of correct engine pads for 1956 single four barrel intake engines, both automatic and manual transmission versions.

Anybody got a photo of these that they can share?

    Ed -

I don't have any "FK" or "GV" pad photos, but here's an "FG" (2x4 Powerglide) pad photo - don't recall where I got it.

Thanks John, that is one I have as well. Those 56 single four cars are elusive.

Ed, did you get the private email that I sent to you? I included three additional pictures that should help somewhat.

          Garry,

Would you be willing to send me pictures, also? I am restoring my 56 dual quad and the block got decked. I'd like to see what some genuine examples look like. Do you know what size that characters are supposed to be and what font? I'd really appreciate any help you could offer...

          Thanks,
          Mark

            Garry;

I haven't checked my home email in a few days, and that is where they would have went. I'll check tonight. Thanks.

That shortblock was in Sebring car number #7 when Duntov drove the car around Laguna Seca at the Monterey Historics in 1987 when Chevrolet was the featured marque. The car had only 15000 miles on it and had approximately five different motors or rebuilds in it. Car was used only on weekends.

                Mark,
The best dual quad '56 pad that I have pictures of is the one that John provided earlier in this thread. I will assure you that it is an original. The others that I spoke to Ed about are from a '55 but of course they are not dual quad. I think that he is looking for a single four stamp.

I don't know what the character sizes are off the top of my head, but be sure to get the correct profile of numbers while you are at it. As an example, the tail on the 6 and 9 is one that seem to be reproduced incorrectly most of the time. They are referred to as a 'tadpole". Maybe someone like Gary Chestnut can respond to the size of characters.

Thanks John. I was hoping that you would kick in with the history of that block.

How does one go about getting the correct stamping equipment and ganging device to be able to re-stamp an original decked block with it's original numbers? I don't imagine that there are a lot of the correct sets out there. I'd appreciate some direction.

                    Thanks,
                    Mark

I got them, thanks. I am really wondering what the 'K' in an FK suffix looks like? You think it might be the same font as the K used in 57?

Skeptical? Do you know something about this pad or car? The car holds a Bloomington Gold with no issue noted about the pad stamp. Please enlighten me so that I can contact John Kocsis, who I bought the car from years ago and who restored the car.

Seems like everyone's a pad stamp expert these days.
