    Thanks!

Time, patience, chemical stripper, and 220 wet/dry paper.

I used a PPG paint stripper available at the time to strip down to the red oxide primer. Once you hit that primer, the stripping process goes to near zero speed. To neutralize the stripper, I washed each working area (3-4 sq ft) well with soap and water, then wiped it down lacquer thinner (vice-versa?). I wet sanded the red primer off with 220 grit paper.

I can't take credit for the process I followed...one of our LONG TIME members wrote it up in an article in the The Corvette Restorer. I know his name as well as my own, but I'm beginning to have trouble remembering mine...I do remember he lived in Thousand Oaks, CA.

The toilet paper roll Urban Legend has just died.

And why don't you have that car done yet? You "racing" Lucia to see who takes longer or dies with their car undone?
Joe and I know it's the quality of the journey that counts...not the destination.

        Oh, I believed you.
However, pictures are always nice. And, it gives me a chance to point out to Chuck that his car is in a state of "less than completeness."

Ha!...But, the extended time has permitted me to know that baby inside and out.

Nobody ever fooled me with one of those "toilet paper roll" stories. (I wonder if your victimizer is reading this thread right now...His sides are probably hurting from laughing so hard! ...Only kidding you, Doc. )

            Go finish your car.

I've told Lucia that if it's not done by the time he's gone, I'm going to put side exhaust and fender trim on his car just to agitate him in the afterlife.
