    What is the correct distributer

I am putting together a 265 210 Hp engine for my 1956 vett. It has a born on date of June 29 . My question is what distributer should I use? The NCRS judging guide book says I should have a 1110866 or 1110869 or a 1110878. Which is correct or best to use? I have a 1110869, is it O.K? The Corvette by the numbers book says till May 11 1956 1110872 was used for the 210 225 and the 240 H.P.or the 1110879 for the 210 225 and 240 H.P.
Any help would be appreciated. I'm confused.

Mark, What is your '56's VIN no.? Problem is that there is very little documentation about actual usage of distributors for '56 other than 210 HP used vacuum advance 866, 869 or 868 and 225/240 HP used centrifugal advance 872, 879 distributors. Other than the date you mention there are not any VIN nor date references for 210 HP distributor usage. The 866, 860, 868 distributors were used between March and May - that's about as specific as it gets to their utilization as far as I can find. Gary....

I disagree. I don't believe ANY 56 Corvette used a vacuum advance distributor. I have actual survey data from five different known original 1956 210 hp cars, and all five have an 879 distributor.

Can some please point me at some documentation that states that any of the vacuum advance distributors is correct for a 56 Corvette.

The change from 872 to 879 date of May 11 might be pretty close. My 56 (#2117, build date around April 24th, 56) still has the original 872 distributor.

Check out this recent thread on the subject.

        Gary
Thanks for the input. My vin# is 3252. So I guess the 869 vac advance is OK to use?
