Re: Wonderbar judging question
We will look under the dash, behind the console to affirm that it is the right configuration, etc., as well as check out the chrome, dial, etc. from the front. We'll also look up at the underside of the speaker to see if it is an original type of speaker by looking at the configuration of the stamped metal and if the transformer is there and right. We'll do what we can to see that you have the black and green wires from the radio joining that black and green wires from the speaker, and if they have the right connectors.- Top

Re: Wonderbar judging question
Very helpful comments Mike! Here are some more questions I've been asked or wonder about myself.
Does configuration of the speaker stamped metal refer to the hole pattern below the cone?
Is the dust cover presence verified?
Does 'right' speaker connectors simply refer to correct two pin connector structural shape or is color critical?
How important is the presence of the ink stamped part number on the magnet back frame?
Is the Wonderbar sensitivity switch function inspected in any manner?
Last question, is there an impact for the absence of external paper labels and if they are placed in incorrect locations?
Thanks very much for the input and to Stewy for initiating the subject!

Re: Wonderbar judging question
Much of what you ask will vary based on the specific knowledge of the judges you pull for interior work on a given day. So, it's not possible to give you an 'algorithm' of what's checked and what isn't checked...
Some of the things you question (e.g. presence of grille cloth, specific rubber ink stamp, Etc.) are DARN hard to see/verify when the car is assembled.
But, anyone doing a serious restoration would be pretty foolish NOT to install grille cloth onto the speaker. It had a purpose...keep airborne debris from falling through the holes in the speaker grille and then 'rattling' off the surface of the speaker's cone!- Top

Re: Wonderbar judging question
I was hoping that you wouldn't look that far up at the speaker. I haven't got a speaker and to find a paper speaker with the 1960 attached transformer is posing to be very difficult. I will keep looking. I have the correct antenna coming and the radio is ready for resto, now I have to find the speaker ?Stewy
