They were on mine before the leaking Holley caused gasoline to remove the silver paint.

they painted that area so the machined cast iron cylinder head area would not rust before the dealer sold the car

What rattle can silver would be a match to the original silver paint?

I lost a little original paint due to trying to clean up the motor with a degreaser.

One More Question, Did The Intake Bolts Get Silver Paint In Them, Too?

Yes, the intake bolts were painted silver with the manifold.

I'm still looking for a match in a rattle can -- although a match, given the poor quality of the original paint, might not be the most appropriate goal.

Should the paint be silver or Aluma Blast?

Does anyone have a picture of an origional showing the paint application? I would appreciate seeing it. Thanks. Ed

Dull Aluminum by Krylon is a match for the 60's engines. I have to guess it would work for 70's too?

Regular aluminun color spray paint will be too shinny.

                      Michael,

Thanks for the tip on using krylon Dull Aluminum. I did this yesterday and it looks right.

                      Regards,

Does anyone know of a source for the Krylon dull aluminum? Bought a case a year ago, and all cans were duds.

I bought the can I used at a local hardware store, I think it was an Ace hardware. However, I was in Walmart yesterday and was suprised by their selection of Krylon paint - it was huge and yes they had

Dennis, thanks for reply. Years ago I could find the dull aluminum at KMart, no longer. I have checked several Walmarts and my local Ace hardware. They don't handle it, if so, they don't ever restock.

Found a source last year, but had to order a case. Every can was bad. I'll keep checking WalMart and may find one that keeps its stock up.

                            Thanks again
