Re: 72 Carpet Color Judging Ques.- Reba W.
Color is originality 1/5 the points so 20% would be the most a judge should take plus any other problems with the other four parts of the pie.
Color should have no effect on condition points.Lyle

Re: 72 Carpet Color Judging Ques.- Reba W.
Unfortunately, on the 1968-72 judging sheets, color is a separate line item: 11 pts. originality and 9 for condition. Since the color is blue, I would not take all 11 points, but there would be a deduction according to the shade deviation. New carpet should get all condition pts. if at least 10% originality is achieved.
The backing, 80/20 pattern, and heel pads are separate line items.
1972 blue is one of the harder shades to match for any interior part. When we had a restoration shop, we went through several tries getting carpet, door pulls, etc. Since it is a one-year only shade, reproducers do not find it worthwhile to produce.- Top

I'm sure your right that color is a seperate line item with 11 points. Could you tell me what you judge for the nine condition points on the color. I found the line item (color) on the on line forms and would think about changing it in the next edition.Lyle
