    serial number 000001 1960 Corvette

I am very aware that many NCRS members do not approve of referencing advertisments on the TDB, but,......this iks a historically important vintage Corvette going on the auction block.
I thought that possibly a member/collector might want a "heads-up" about it. Ridge.

1960 Chevrolet Corvette ConvertibleThe First Corvette of the Sixties, Serial No. 0001It was the Sixties, the time of Kennedy, The Beatles, Route 66, and this 1960 Corvette, the first Corvette of the Sixties, Serial # 0001, saw it all unfold. The lineage certainly started off in high style: fittingly finished in the timeless combination of Ermine White with a White top and Red interior, the car is also equipped with the best powertrain available, the fuel-injected 290-horsepower 283 V-8 with a 4-speed manual transmission. Other options include the signal-seeking AM radio and wide whitewall tires that add an extra touch of elegance to the classic color scheme.

Other than advertising for Mecum, I think it's a service to Corvette owners and that is what this is all about.

Thanks Joe, for the supportive, thoughtful comment. I try to be responsible in attaching, or referencing ads on the TDB. Admittedly, I've been jumped by a couple of senior members in the past about this issue, and respect the views of my elders (seems kind of lame referring to one's 'elders", when you just had your 55th birthday).
I would sure be pleased if this Corvette is found to be 100% legitimate, and one of our fellow members added it to his or her collection. Would be nice to be a part of the club.

          Ridge,

I'm a fairly new member, but I don't see any issue with your post. It's not like you're selling a 'vette that you own. You're just making everyone aware of an interesting 'vette for sale at auction. It happens all of the time on our site. It's what makes this site so enjoyable to participate in.

          Thanks.

Thanks for that thought, Ken. I agree with your view, and also have reminded a couple of other fellow members, that one can always click off the threads that they disapprove of. Shouldn't be any issue, in my opinion.
I do however respect the views of fellow members who see this issue differently, and try to seldom reference ads, and only reference advertisments that highlight a "historic", or rare car.
A little over a year ago, I was posting a comment on a thread where a fellow member asked it eBay auctions were, as a rule, usually a successful venue to sell a vintage Corvette. I replied in that post that I had listed one of my cars (well over a year ago) , and had zero luck in finding a serious buyer. Well, someone sent in a complaint to the administrator of the TDB, that I had mentioned "selling my car", as well as the thread was essentially a "for sale" ad,.. and the entire thread disappeared, to never see the light if day again.
Lesson learned is: we all see things differently, and handle situations differently. I certainly do not wish to offend, or disappoint any fellow members, and try to use a level of caution in my posts.
              Thanks again, Ridge.

A car such as this is a historically significant ride. How often will first/ last cars become available. So a forum such as NCRS may allow for a heads up to a buyer-s who were unaware. If they have the possible deep pockets that may be required to secure such a ride. Better than the car going to a Dealer. Which it may. Let's hope the general public has a shot at it.

Wow! This is an interesting car. I wonder how many 59 parts were used ?

They would all be '59 parts. It was built before the 1st of the year.

Thats a good point Roger. I'd say plenty probably more 59 than 60. I'd still have it in my shed. It's only 1200 away from mine so does that make mine worth lots Stewy

Dana Mecum owns that car, it has been displayed at Bloomington. I believe Harmony Corvettes did the restoration.
