can someone break down a 58 engine code for me?

Going to look at a 58 today around 12:00

Could someone post a bogus engine pad or one off your 58 and show me how to break it down so I know how to date the engine?

I just need to know how to break down the engine pad on the car today so I can see what engine it is hp wise and what date is it.

Engine code will have the following format:

FXXXXYY

First character (F) indicates Flint engine plant. If first character is anything else (like a T perhaps), it is not a Corvette engine.

XXXX is the month and day. This could be either three or four digits, with the month being one or two digits, day will always be two digits. The letter I is used for the digit 1. Examples: 407 - April (4) 7th (07), II2I -November (II) 21st (2I).

YY is the engine suffix code. All manual trans cars will start with the letter C. All automatic cars will start with the letter D. Here are the correct suffix codes for 1958 Corvette:

CQ - 230hp, single four barrel, manual trans
CR - 250hp, fuel injected (low horse), manual trans
CS - 290hp, fuel injected (high horse), manual trans
CT - 245hp, 2x4 bbl, manual trans
CU - 270hp, 2x4 bbl, manual trans

DG - 230hp, single four barrel, automatic trans
DH - 250hp, fuel injected (low horse), automatic trans
DJ - 245hp, 2x4 bbl, automatic trans

I think that is all of the possible combos for 1958.
