Felt that attaches to the Ventilator

I am missing something. Trying to install the new felts on the ventilator of my 63 conv. There are two rivet spots then at the top there are two square holes. I thought the top two square holes were there and would hold the felts. The rubber wipe on the other side poke through and then bend over, but they are not holding. Nothing in the Assembly Manual or the Shop Manual.

    Thanks for any help.

Maybe I did not describe this very well. The felt goes in the track of the ventilator assembly, the rubber piece with the tabs creates the seal for the vent window. I am unsure how the original stayed in there it appears to only have one rivet hole at the bottom. But I have a replacement from LI Corvette and just can not figure out how to get it to stay in there. I think the tabs would hold but the curvature of the ventilator is just putting to much energy on it to hold.

Greg: I can speak for a '65. You're correct that, at the top, the tabs from the window rubber strip go through the square holes at the top of the fuzzy. There is a rivet at the middle and at the bottom of the run. These rivets do the real securing the fuzzy strip into the vent channel.

I had to "massage" the curvature of the fuzzies to match the channel, so it would lie "freely" in it. NOT fun! Wanted to twist.

Even so, at the top, the fuzzy didn't want to sit down into the channel like it should. So... I used 3M 8008 weatherstrip glue and clamped the fuzzy down into the channel. Now, we don't have to worry about those puny tabs holding. That fuzzy strip ain't goin' anywhere soon.

Mike, thanks for the idea. I called LI Corvettes and they said the same thing about the tabs from the rubber holding it down. I think he said "I've done it to a thousand of them". I wanted to tell him to drive here and put them in. I actually went back out to the garage and pused the tabs up and there must of been more to hold going up. I do like your idea of the cement, may take them back off and put a little in there.
