Can a person go to a chapter meet if they do not bring their car and what is there to see. Just curious. I saw that both the Michigan and Ontario Chapters are holding Chapter Meets coming up and I was thinking of attending but was not sure if you could if you didn't bring your car for Judging.

Re: Chapter Meets
Rob, probably yes. I would contact the Chapter Chairman just to verify. They might want a small fee, maybe not. Some Chapter meets are large and some small. Saying that there may be one or two cars being judged, so check on the amount of cars that will be there and other activities that might be going on at the meet.

Re: Chapter Meets
Nobody is obligated to bring a car other than those who want them judged. To get the most out of your day, sign up for the event and act as an Observer Judge. As Harry suggests get hold of the organizing chapter to see what they suggest.- Top

Re: Chapter Meets
I agree, contact the Chapter Chairman or their Judging Director and find out what they have going on. I am a member of the Nebraska Chapter and on May 9th, I attended the Kansas City Chapter Meet. They were planning to judge 6 Corvettes and as luck would have it, 3 were C1's. I contacted the K.C. Chapter and was able to help judge in the Chassis Area on all 3 C1's and the Operations Area on 2 of them. I own a 1960 that is going through a complete restoration, so it was a great learning experience for me and I also got to meet several of the members from the K.C. Chapter. A win/win situation for everyone! Go for it!

Re: Chapter Meets
When communicating with the meet officials you might inquire about the generation of cars they have registered for judging. As Harry mentions, some chapters have only a few cars for judging, and others will have more cars than some regionals. The size of meets -- both chapter and regional can vary greatly. As Greg stated, Chapter meets are a great opportunity to see some different Corvettes and meet a new circle of friends.Terry- Top

Re: Chapter Meets
Rob, By all means if you get a chance, GO! Especially if you think at some point you may be getting a car judged. It's like anything else you can read the books but until you see it in person it's not the same. The first NCRS event I ever attended was the National at St. Charles last year. Granted the National is the "World Series" of the NCRS and and has gobs and gobs more going on but it is the best experience, one you won't forget. As Michael pointed out sign up to be an observing judge if you can. I was fortunate to be an observing judge in the 1967 SB engine field, which is what I hoped for. Keith (Biggers) and his team of judges are very knowledgable and took the time to explain the process to us "newbies". While the judges have a job to do and only a short amount of time to do it in I never once felt like an outsider or that I was pestering them with my questions. I know the chapter meets won't be on the Grand scale of the National but you will still find the dedicated judges and members who make our hobby so enjoyable whether you're membership number is #1 or #50,000. By the way I didn't have a car judged and ended up driving the 04 Avalanche down.- Top

Re: Chapter Meets
As others have said, you can ABSOLUTELY attend any NCRS meet without bringing a car. BUT...
Don't expect to just walk in! NCRS bylaws require all NCRS members attending any/all meets properly register (and PAY any meet registration fees)....
Now there is a proviso for purchasing a 'day pass'. That gets you onto the judging field to look around but with a day pass you're restricted in terms of participation. You will not be allowed to 'participate' in meet activities (judging, observer judging, attending technical seminars, Etc.).
Many are unaware of the NCRS rules in this area and presume they can just show up, and participate fully until they've accomplished what they came for...- Top

You can download the Michigan Chapter meet form here, right side of the page.
FYI, May 28th is the deadline to register. We could always use another OJ or even "real" judge.

Rob,
Jack's points are right on. There is a fee for attending and also another fee for registering a car for judging. Here is the link for the Michigan Chapter registration form:
