Correct FI # for '58 vin#101339

Would anyone know if this early 250 HP '58 (vin #101339) would have had a Rochester FI#7014800 originally in it, or would it have had the #7014900?

Marvin, Basically we should have had your engine build date also.
Last 58 built in November 57 was 1443. So your 58 is about the 3rd week of November. You should be safe with the 7014900 unit. Properly updated that's a nice reliable fuel injection.
A harder question is what distributor should you be using. I would bet it is the hard to find '906 distributor. Single points with vac. adv. Now there is a slight possibility it is the '915 but I sorta doubt that. I have seen and owned several early 4900 units that came with '906's. In case you are wondering the '906 was used in '57 .
Ask your team leader Tim Mickey his thoughts on the proper FI unit and distributor. I bet he will say 4900/906. Now if you run into a nice 4900R unit grab it as the only differeces between a 4900-4900R are the nozzles and the ID tag. THe GM literature said calibration was the difference. Well the nozzles were smaller on the LHP also. Good luck, JD
