1967 heater hose clamp

I have a set of clamps on my 1967 SB with C-60, that are the olds style spring ring type. L.I. Corvette shows a band with a screw type clamp on the 3/4 inch hose on the water pump( lower). Which is correct? The aim shows a part number with the notation optional. I have both. Thank you in advance Dale

That one application should have a side-screw clamp, similar to the two on the hose between the expansion tank outlet and the tee in the 3/4" heater hose.

Thank you John. I will take the spring clip off and put it on. I took off all the Gates for spring clips. I hope it does not leak. Dale

Does this type of clamp get used only on A/C cars and the regular spring clamp on the non A/C??

What page in AIM is the hose detail?

Tim, I found it on page G318 of my AIM, under Air Conditioning. Under item # 4, it says clamp 111608, then says 9420906 optional. Thus my question. Most of the parts books show the spring ring clamp at that postion except L.I. Corvettte. So I ordered that. It is a band type clamp with a screw and nut to close it. If you email me I will take a picture of it and send it. It looks to me as they are both correct. But Iwill go with what Joe L. says. Dale

Thanks Dale, I will check it out. The reason I ask is because I just installed new heater hoses on my 67 and have not put the antifreeze in yet. I wanted to be sure nothing needed to be changed.

It's in section C60, sheet D3, item #4. When I judge, I always compliment the owner when I find a side-screw clamp at that location, as most folks miss it and use a Corbin clamp there.

Dale -

That notation ("optional") appears frequently on A.I.M. sheets, and normally indicates that two different vendors supplied the specified part (under different part numbers), either of which could be used; although the parts differed somewhat in appearance, either was functionally acceptable to Engineering. The best example of this is fan clutches - the coil-type from Eaton, and the bar-type from Schwitzer.
