    soft brake pedal

    What would cause a soft brake pedal on a 67 corvette. The master cylinder has been replaced but did not take care of the problem. There are no apparent leaks and the bowls stay full.

      Two thoughts..

      1- You might not have gotten all the air out of the lines when the MC was changed

      2 - Using Dot-5 fluid... Been rumored to create a spongy pedal

          You got air in the system. Bleed again. Use DOT 3 as specified on MC. Bill

              If your brakes were bled properly after the master cylinder change did you have a firm pedal?
              If your brakes went from a firm pedal to soft, you may have to much runout with the rear discs.
              This can cause the brake caliper pistons to pump air from the runout of the discs.
              Sent my discs rotors and spindles to www.bairs.com about 20 years ago.
              The discs were riveted to the spindles and trued just like it left the factory with. Hard pedal using silicone brake fluid ever since on my 70.
