Vent window to Windshield reveal question.

Although I have had the vent window assembly in and out of the door 30+ times I cannot get the assembly aligned where I would like. The vent window sticks out past the windshield reveal and catches wind. I have followed the AIM as to how to put the vent assembly in but no luck. The AIM shows the vent window assembly inside the windshield reveal as much as 1/8 inch and with a 1/8 space vertically from top to bottom. The best I can get is with the vent assembly sticking out 1/8 from the windshield reveal and with a 1/8 space at the bottom of the vent assm. and over 1/4 at the top. See attached pic to help understand my problem.

Any thoughts appreciated...

Bill: two factors that can cause your situation (from my experience):

the door isn't hung correctly and tilts outboard at the top front. At the beltline, does the door sit above flush with the front quarter? If so, that makes it tough to get the frame to pillar gaps you want.

the stainless molding on the windshield pillar is pushed in too tight, causing its rear edge to be recessed wrt the vent frame leading edge. Loosen the screws on the pillar and position it as much outboard as you can.

Regarding the vent frame sticking out at the top, do you have the max tilt already adjusted in, using the stud directly below the 2 attaching bolts?
