    Re: Why Corvette????

Roy! IN LIFE TIMING IS EVERYTHING! I STILL REMEMBER SITTING IN MY HOME ROOM BACK IN 76 WITH A BOOK THAT DETAILED EVERY CAR AVAILABLE WITH OPTIONS AND PRICES! I THINK I BUILT EVERY POSSIBLE COMBINATION AVAILABLE FROM PONTIAC, OLDS, BUICK, CHEVROLET, FORD, AMC, PLYMOUTH, DODGE, AND I THINK I REMEMBER AVANTI, AS WELL AS BRICKLIN! I recently found sales slips with vin# for many of the vettes i owned and i am sure someone out there would be happy with documentation. To get back to your question, WHY CORVETTE? For me it was love at first itch! WRAP YOUR ASS IN FIBERGLASS DRIVE A VETTE was a prizem decal available at speed shops back then! I will be 50 next week and the memories of every vette I owned (80+) stripped, sanded, primed, painted, sold, bought, drove, wrecked (the only new one I purchased) as well as the C6 my friend Jose purchased while fighting terminal cancer (he asked me to find him a 69 BB with side pipes) a wish I never had a chance to fill makes me realize how fortunate we are to experience the joy of driving a Vette. Jose is waiting for me but when I get there there is no way he is driving my fuelie!

I love reading the stories of what turned people on about Corvettes and think it takes them back to a better simpler time . this even brings out first time posters

A related question for you Roy---How did you get so interested in copper colored machines?

I came by it by chance , I never seen a copper 55 tho I've had a few others . In my opinion I feel that an original 55 is rarer then a 53 and always loved the body look.GM only sold 15 copper 55's, The original engine now shows 117,000 miles and needs to be freshened up. I've had other C1 and C2's but keep the 55 because few people NOT NCRS knows what it is and if they think they do they all thinks it's a 54 like GM never made a 55 Corvette. I'll bet you rarely ever see one ???

              Re: Why Corvette????

I remember in around 1972-74, a local NCCC club, had an all Corvette drags at a drag strip near Sidney, Ohio. Of course I was there and there was a '55 that was supposed to be all original. I remember the talk that it was one of only about 20, that had the rare 3sp. trans. Was it all original for sure? I can't answer that. It was just the talk of the day. Heck at that time we were still trying to figure out some of the numbers and codes.
