62 250hp compression test

The following readings were taken: 1- 185 2-195
3- 190 4-190
5- 185 6- 180
7- 180 8- 190
The old AC-Delco 45-S (4 green stripes) looked good but I put in a new set from Advance Auto Parts (R 45S). No plugs were fouled and no blue smoke. Are the above readings in the proper range?

The shop manual says 160, but actual compression gage readings vary over a wide range depending on the gage. The important result is consistent readings across all cylinders - 20 psi max. variation for a given gage, so it appears your engine is in good internal shape.
