I bought a 2" under the car exhaust system from Zip Products (p/n EX2000) for my -66 300HP Powerglide. When trying to mount it, the passenger side front exhaust pipe fits ok ending up flush to the rear end of the exhaust hanger under the powerglide. The driver side front exhaust pipe ends up beyond the exhaust hanger, in fact it ends up inside the crossmember. So there is no way to place the clamp where pipes connects together.
The pipes has a length difference of more than 2 inches (please see enclosed picture with the driver side pipe to the left). The left (driver side) exhaust manifold (and cylinder head) seems to be about 1 inch further to the front on the engine compared to the one on the right side. So the length difference of the exhaust pipes should be about 1 inch, not more than 2 inches. Can someone please confirm or reject my theory before I start to try and shorten the driver side exhaust pipe.
