Correct 1964 starter and solenoid finish

Can someone tell me if the starter and solenoid pictured below are correctly finished prior to my installation?

In my opinion, the starter solenoid's case should have been painted black. Plus, if memory serves, the starter's field coils were attached to the case with slot head vs. Philips screws until somewhere around 1970...
