Does any one have any experience with clutch assemblies from CC? I have a noisy throw-out bearing and thought I might just replace the whole assembly (pilot bushing, disc, pressure plate, and throw-out bearing). I have a basic 250-327 w/4-speed. Should probably look at the flywheel surface as well. $160 for the assembly w/3-finger pressure plate.

Re: 62 clutch assembly
John,
If you want a nice easy clutch so you can enjoy driving put in a diaphragm clutch.
I have had one in my 62 340 HP for about 15,000 miles and it has a soft pedal pressure but engages without any slipping.

I like the Multi-finger clutch as well...Caution however; During your first start-up drive, the clutch pedal may drop to the floor due to centrifugal force at high r.p.m. If this happens, the Godzilla spring must be removed and you will be in business.- Top

Re: 62 clutch assembly
How does it hold up versus the 3 finger Borg & Beck type? The 3 finger clutch that I have now in my 59 stands up well to the ocational beating, but my arthritic knee is going to force me to get a clutch that is easier to operate.- Top

Re: 62 clutch assembly
Roger,
The diaphragm clutch in my 340 HP 62 has been throughly abused many times over the past 15,000 miles shows no signs of deterioration. And the soft pedal pressure is easy on my left leg.
I replaced an old Borg and Beck clutch that was to hard to depress and it took the enjoyment out of driving.

Re: 62 clutch assembly
The 3-finger Borg & Beck coil-spring clutch design is "dinosaur" technology - GM gave up on that design in 1962 (and on the over-center "Godzilla spring" that went with it), for good reason.- Top
