pwr window conversion for a 60

Has anyone converted their manual windows to power in a 60 or like years?

I found a source for the switches and read that the motors are the same up to about the mid 70s. Wiring shouldn't be an issue so that leaves me with the regulators... Are they the same as manual or will finding a set or power regulators be the deal breaker?

Is there anything else to consider on a conversion like this?

    Thanks

Manual and power regulators are different in design , 56 to 61 Corvette are all the same (power) or 55 to 57 Chevy Nomad and Pontiac Nomad are also the same as Corvette (power)

No, didn't know there was a conversion for Corvettes. How will the judges handle this one, can they tell the difference? I ask this because this was one of the major reasons I purchased my 61 in the first place, it had option RPO 426! Don't want to take anything away from your question, I'm just concerned on how this hurts cars that have this option factory installed.

i have done several conversions over the years, as long as you get the good switches, harness and conduits all, available repo, mount the relay on the firewall, i don't see why it would hurt your car, the aim shows where to cut and drill, i would try to find original regulators and motors if i were you, some of the older gm's are pretty close, good luck

The Corvette Central kit sounded good and the price was reasonable but if you look at thier pic of it I can see that the switches are all wrong. The motors look to be some off shore type to so good luck with finding a replacement down the road if need be.

I'll only consider this conversion if the end result is that it looks proper so it needs correct looking switches and it should have "correct" looking parts if you look down inside the door with the window down. Is there any way to mod the manual regulators to accept the proper motor without destroying them in case I want to go back to manual down the road? Doug, which of the older GMs are close and what does it take to mod those?

I assumed that the relay would have been under the dash but since it's in the open were would I find a correct looking one?

Cars factory equipped with power windows used modified doors. The area where the harness conduit bolts to the door has a kind of recessed pocket. I know this is the case for 61/62 cars and believe it's true for all the others. Rich

the pocket you speak of is in there, just waiting to be freed, i made a template,of where to drill & cut, ,if you decide to do it, get ahold of me i'd be happy to send you a copy, page B222 and 223 in the 62 assembly manual have nice diagrams, also note that all doors have 2 sets of regulator mounting holes, sometimes they are glued over , but they are there, the front set is for PW the rear set is manual, and yes don't use the cheap ccentral switches they are from a late 70's 80's gm monte carlo, buick regal type car, will work, but ugly, good repos are available, cary

Is it true that C-1 standard window regulators can be converted to power regulators by changing the gear and adding a motor? Has anyone done this? What's the difficulty? Rich
