    silk screening

Finally found an original tripower air cleaner lid, it is rechromed but I need the silk screen put on before bloomington. Paragon says 2-3 weeks and they send it someone. That's cutting it close. Does anyone know who does it for them or who can do it quicker?
    Thanks

      Silk screening; definitely Richard Fortier

      Jeremy,

I second the choice of Richard Fortier. Richard has more "correct" artwork for the silk screen than does Paragon. I'm guessing he can have his silk screener do a rush, but I suspect they'll be an up-charge.

Seeing as Richard used to own Paragon, one might even suspect that they use the same source...? Though each may "own" their own silkscreen.

Paragon typically allows for pickup of orders at BG, so that might be an option as well.

I believe Richard's silkscreen is more correct than the Paragon artwork.

I am quite sure that Richard designed the silk screen used by Paragon, and I was told that the one used by Richard today was produced using more current technology to better match the original than could be done with the technology used to design the version used by Paragon

Richard's silk-screen process today is second to none. I had him silk-screen an NOS GM lid and I possess an incredible original lid and the the print is identical. There is no comparison to a Paragon silk-screen vs. Richard's process.

                  Brad,

I believe that Richard did oversee the reproduction lids that Paragon sold, but my understanding is that in some cases the AC Delco artwork that Paragon based the reproduction artwork for the silk screens was not the same artwork that was used by production lids. For some reason the original artwork for some of the silk screened text went thru at least one revision before the lids for production were made.

But it is true that the computer technology that is available today makes it quite easy to create new artwork that very accurately matches known original silk screens in terms of font style, size, line and inter-letter spacings, line widths, etc.
