66 4 spd Speedometer Cable Length.

Checked the archives without any luck. My current cable lines up great and is 76 inches long. I pulled the cable and it needs replacement. I can't find any replacements that length. ???

Greg -- service replacement cables, starting in 1965 for 4 speed trannys, were 67_1/8" outer casing length (I assume bell-edge to b.e, with the knurled screws retracted). And the inside cable/shaft was 68_5/8".
Not sure whether this was the same dimension as production.

Trouble is that later Chev service units were usually "one size fits all" within a large range. Providing it wasn't too short, a given replacement might be up to 9 inches longer than the original.
