Ok guys finally bought a 58 :) pics and video inside.

Excuse the color it's awful I know! haha

We bought this car from the 2nd owner who bought it in 1968. When he bought it from the original owner the car was as it sits today...painted brown, and the little 283 hopped up. Car has always been garaged kept the frame is in AWESOME shape..never seen one this nice actually. BTW this car will fly! no joke I was amazed. We have a 68 4sp 427/390hp car which has a fresh rebuild back to original specs which it was anyway but this car will smoke that 427..

I have ran all the numbers except for the rear end but I believe the rear end to have low gearing we can put it in 4th and it pulls itself up big hills without us touching the gas! I'm thinking it has 4.11 gear to it. The engine is a 283 but doesn't appear to be matching to the car date is later than the car. carb is a holley 650, has a high rise intake on it. Other than that, the hood and the color it's pretty much stock original. No flares, or any mods done really just wrong paint, NOM and some hop up goodies on the engine.

Like I said in the 60's it was painted this ugly brown and hopped up by the original owner..who knows why he painted it brown but doesn't really matter since we're going to restore it anyway. The original color looks to be that teal color I think it's called regal blue. For right now even though it looks ugly due to the color I think we're just going to drive it for awhile since it runs so good.

I had a video of it on going down the road and my dad stomping it but photobucket only lets you upload 100mb worth of video so I just made this short clip.

btw what kinda money do you think this car is worth? It has never been wrecked we know that due to the 2nd owner knowing the 1st owner from work and we also bought it from a co-worker so we know the 2nd owner that bought it in 68 has never wrecked it and it's always been a southern car. Body is not busted anywhere and it has all the original chrome pieces..radio.. etc..the hood needs to be replaced the an original one though.

    Good job!

If it runs and drives that well, I think I'd collect parts and spend time taking notes on similar 58s before I took it apart.

    Just my thought.

            Brandon,

Great score! The brown color must have been popular around then, as my first Corvette was a 60 that was painted tan with metallic brown coves, metallic brown frame and differential and had a brown and yellow interior. Looked like someone yakked inside. Yours looks a whole lot better.
