I bought a 1100694 55A alternator for my -66 A/C Corvette. When I try to install it, it turns out that the hole for the pivot (long) bolt, which attaches to the exhaust manfold, is to big. It's about 1/2 inch in diameter.
The previous alternator I had in the car has a hole that is about 3/8 inch (the same for a few more alternators I have).
Can anyone explain why this alternator has such a big hole. According to the p/n it should fit in my car.
I'm attaching pictures of the alternator hole and p/n. Also a picture of the hole in my previous alternator.
