STUBNITZ-VINC tag on '66 seat springs

A small metal tag attached to the springs on underside of the original seats on my '66 is stamped STUBNITZ-VINC and under that the code: 3866415-4-27(?)K. The original seats are black vinyl. I assume Stubniiz was the company that made the seat frames or the entire seats for GM. Anyone know anything about Stubnitz? I found nothing in the DB archives.

    Gary -

Stubnitz was the outside vendor that supplied the seat frame assemblies, including the springs.

Thanks John. I sure wish Stubnitz had switched to the use of ball bearings instead of (tension) "spring bushings" before 1967. Tension springs do not represent a precision, low friction, bearing element.

True, but Chevrolet was responsible for the design, not Stubnitz; Chevrolet didn't have many folks who were "experts" in seat frame/track design, and nobody watched the pennies of piece cost closer than Chevrolet.
