Can anyone identify early rearend paint markings?

Here is an Oct 57 built posi rear for a Nov built 58 car.
Throughout various assembly processes, daubs of paint were often applied to components of a car. This rear has yellow, blue and white paint markings on it. So does anyone have specific knowledge about and can identify/explain what the specific purpose was for the different colors on the case, ring gear half of the posi unit and the pinion yoke?

Tom, tried for a long time to figure all of those paint identification colors out. Most were used as assembly visual aids. Let me know if the pumpkin you posted photos of it Corvette or passenger car. Here's my thoughts. Thanks, Gary....
- Yellow on pumpkin and axle housing is Corvette ID paint
- Yellow on axle ends and shafts is Corvette ID paint
- Yellow on front spring eye is Corvette ID paint
- Light Blue on pumpkin pinion flange is inspection mark after it was torqued
- White on pumpkin, axle housing and shafts is Passenger Car ID paint

Other paint marks are probably inspection but no info on color defintions.

The stamped code is AP 1026, which translates to 58 Corvette with 4.11 positraction, which is what this rear is. I believe the rear is virgin. Dates on R&P corrospond to the dates on the case and the stamped assembly date.
