    Power Window Conversion

I have a 63 roadster and was just thinking of trying to add power windows. Has anyone done this successfully?

If so, what does it entail, other than the obvious?

    Thanks,

    Jerry

It's really just the obvious things you see called out in the AIM. But, you DO have to drill/cut body and interior components to route the window motor wiring, install the console switches AND you need the PW version of the window regulators vs. the standard crank window regulators (or modify your existing regulators to PW configuration)...

      Gerald,

It is a lot of work but can be done. My 65 originally came with power windows, but someone converted to manual. I used one of the conversion kits for power windows. Be prepared for a large expenditure because it is more than just the kit. You also need to replace the door panels. You will also need to carefully cut the hole in the console for the switch or obtain a PW console. You will need to cut holes in the jam and door for the wire harness conduit. One other thing, is that the after market motors that come with the kit are junk. They hardly had enough power to even raise the window. Make sure you use Delco motors as they are a lot better. It is expensive and a lot of work but very doable. Good luck!
