I had one done recently at Office Depot which is like Staples etc. I emailed them the art and dialogue I wanted. They put it on a 2' x 3' piece of foam board for about $25 dollars. They do that kind of thing alot for business meetings etc.

      Mike,
There is a fellow NCRS member, Tom Yoda, located here in Massachusetts that does them. He did one for my hot rod and it came out great. With it comes a carrying bag and easel. As I recall it was around $200. I have a photo of it somewhere but can't seem to locate it. If you want his contact info. I can get it to you.

I decided to make my poster board, as opposed to having someone else do it for me. Went to Kinko's and had a 27" x 38" poster made on GatorBoard (much better than foam or corrugated) with a satin finish, UV resistant. Cost was $110 and took three days. Below is a .jpg of it. If you'd like, I will give you the PhotoShop art and you can modify as needed. Of course, you do need PhotoShop to do that, but a lot of people either have it or have it available. I've got about 80 to 100 hours learning the programa and making things look the way I wanted.

Discovered these guys at Carlisle one year and they've done 3 signs for me. Expensive, but the best.

This is a display board that I had made for my 55. It was made with an aluminum backing. I emailed the information and the picture of the car to a small graphics company in Louisiana, and they sent me a email with the finished display for approval. I picked it up in about a week. Mine is 24" by 17", and cost about $70.00. Let me know if you are interested, and I will give you their phone number.

Fenwick - Did you intend to attach a pic of the display board for your 55? I would like to see what you have.

This is a very timely topic - I am thinking of making a display board for my 53 #276 car.

                Thanks,

                Russ

Re: Display Board for Car Shows

In 1974 Automobile Quarterly was doing a piece on the 300SL and they selected one of my cars to photograph for the article. Unbeknownst to me, using a picture of my car AQ also made a poster of the 300SL which they distributed for many years and which I did not discover until the 1986 Historic Races at Laguna Seca (I bought several). The upshot of this is a very nice display board for use at shows and certainly a novel conversation item. Excuse the quality of the picture, my "display board" is now hanging on the wall of my garage, it is raining, natural light is low and I had to move far to the side to avoid reflection from the flash - but you get the idea that all of the statistics relative to the car are included. Also included is a picture of the car from last autumn to show it is still intact.
