Re: Found orginal frame markings....what next?
Guys...thanks for all the kind words of encouragement.
I did decide to skip the POR-15 and went with two coats of SPI epoxy and will top coat with what I think is the proper sheen of black. I did decide to leave the orginal stencil under the epoxy and will put new stencil (from Quanta) over the same spot.
The steering box is off to Gary R for rebuild. If you look at the most recent steering box post...mine is the "virgin 66" box he shows pictures of. He is also setting up my trailing arms.
My fronts are ready for the new rubber bushings and ball joints. I will not be sending them out for rivets but rather install the "look alike" bolt version.
The only flaw I found in the frame is the top of one of the exhaust tunnels had a V partially cut out and re-welded. I can't figure out what that is all about since the bottom part appears to be in perfect shape.
The shafts will recieve all new u-joints and the differential is going to get an inspection and "makeover". Since everything else is coming up as "Untouched" I am sure my differntial will probably be a candidate for a rebuild.
I have tons of pictures and every part is well documented. So, I will be sure to show some progress pictures as I go along. I am sure you guys have plenty of orginal stuff in your archive and memory banks...but if you need a specific picture just let me know.
