    soft top preservative

What can you put on a midyear black soft top to protect against sun, etc. that won't get judging deducts for too much "shine"?

Haven't used it yet, but Haartz recommends a product called "Raggtop" which includes UV protectant.

The other product that looks interesting is "303 Aerospace Protectant".

Look forward to hearing user experience with these.

I just leave the top down all the time until it is time to put it to bed for the winter!! That way I don't need a preservative.

Myself I would be more concerned about protecting the top against the sun ect. then a few points.

Never had it judged and I understand your concern. I think the 303 leaves a nice patina. I use a microfiber towel to apply a light coat working it into the vinyl then after a few days the initial shine seems to settle down.

I have used both top protectants. The formula 303 worked great on my 62 vinyl top . I lost no points on the top when I received a TOP FLIGHT . I also use all of 303 products they work much better than armorall or any other products I have tried.
I used RAG TOP on my 89 CALLAWAY before the nationals in ST CHARLES last year.THE 89 has a cloth top and I was very happy with the results.
Again I lost no points on the way the being awarded a McLELLAN.

I used Raggtop on my 74' and was very impressed with the result. Two part system with cleaner and protectant.

Before judging why put any protectant on, just leave it natural, as that is the way it was delivered back in the 60's.
