    Spare Tire Lock Bracket Bolts

I've searched the archives and see different responses for the finish on the 2 bolts and washers that attach the bracket to the frame. Some say cad/zinc or black phos. Also, any thoughts on the possible headmarks? My vette is a 70. Once again thanks for any guidance.

Tx for your reply. I'm surprised this question didn't generate more responses. Does anyone else have any other thoughts?

I just looked at the bolts from the 72 I'm working on. I happen to have pics of those bolts. Definitely black phosphate.

Yes, I know they appear different. They've been cleaned and oiled, then reinstalled.

Great picture. It certainly shows black phos bolts. I'll do mine the same. If you get a chance please check the headmark and let me know. TX

            Gas tank

            Patrick,

Is that a Quanta gas tank? I'm wonder about the orientation of the OL Anderson logo that has been raised by several in the past.

Yes, it is. I replaced it in 2007.
This is the car's 3rd gas tank. It was replaced the first time in the late 80s, but since the car sat the last 16 years in a barn the GM replacement tank rusted out.

The lock bolt is definately black phosphate, I do not see distinct head marking, although there is an appearance of a "Y". For those interested, an early 70' bolt is the same overall length compared to a 71' or 72', however, side by side comparison, the early 70' has about 1/4" more threads and therefore unthreaded part of bolt is 1/4" shorter.
