    58 speaker hookup

Happy Fourth to All*****. The speaker has the green wire I believe with the Gnd. on the clip and then the black with the same clip(no marks), does the green from the speaker go to the green of the radio or is the black of the radio the ground then whatever is left just plug in? Thanks Brad.

Yes Brad, the black wire from the radio is chassis (case) ground and connects to the black wire on the speaker. The green wire from the radio (which actually connects to the silver case of the round rear mounted transistor on the heat sink) connects to the green wire from the speaker.

With both wires connected between radio and speaker, you should read very close to 1.5 volts DC across the green and black wires. If you have this reading, the odds are you have a properly working combination and will derive the best audio quality. If you have a significantly lower reading, you probably have one of the very common to find aftermarket speakers with an incorrect loading coil.

    Hope that helps...
