    65 Steering Gear Box Rebuilders

Who do you recommend to do a Steering Gear Box rebuild for my 65? Quick turnaround and reasonable. Thanks

I removed my steering gear box. I clamped it in my bench vice. The arm is still attached. When I steer all the way to one side, the arm will slowly fall down on it's own. When I steer the other way, the arm does not fall down. Something is awry. I do not own an Inch/lb. torque wrench. May have to ship out. DG

Dick, Go to the members list at top of the page and contact Gary Ramadei. He rebuilt my 67 steering box and it couldn't be better. Very reasonable and he knows what he's doing. There is another thread going on now titled "1965 steering box finish". Gary replied to that thread so if you click on his name you'll be able to e-mail him. Good luck, Shooter

My vote goes to Gary Ramadei. I have followed his postings and replies on several other forums over the last several years. He knows his stuff.

BTW, how did Saginaw Steering Gear fill the gear with grease?

                From the Saginaw assembly drawing:
"Lubricate gear with 11 oz. lubricant per SSG spec 5695023 thru side cover bolt indicated." (Indicated is side cover bolt on centerline of gear).
