Re: More progress on the restoration

Probably won't get a deduct because it probably isn't judged because its hard to see. Just trying to get things correct

I'm not sure, my buddy sent them out to be rebuilt. I can ask him.

Chris , your car looks great. What did you use to restore the finish on the carb ?

A local shop by the name of "The Carb Shop" did it.

                Chris,
This is one of the most informative post I've seen. Thanks for taking the time to share your restoration process. The car is coming out very nice.Best of luck on the final outcome.

                Regards,
                Brian

Re: More progress on the restoration

Chris - Hope to see you in Texas in October even though it's a long way from Minneapolis!

I had my rolling chassis judged before doing the body drop. Not only was the chassis a hit at the judging meet, it was easier to correct items prior to replacing the body.

I also built an electrical box that enabled me to start and run the engine in the rolling chassis. Again, issues that arose were easier to address prior to the body drop.

Tim, good post and thanks for the info. You sir, however, have the luxury of time that I just don't have. It would be interesting to have JUST the chassis judged at our chapter event, but I want this car done. It's coming up on 3 years, and I'm ready to be done with it.

The only thing that might hold me up from coming to Texas is vacation time. If I go to Texas, I won't have any vacation time (yup, still working, only 35 years old here) left for the holidays. That has a low WAF (wife acceptance factor).

Just kidding, I checked with my guy again and he said the carb went out to New York for restoration.
