Re: C1 F.I. Drive cable needed...
David, "Seems to me like there is likely some debris in the pump". Bad thing Dave is that if it's in the pump it certainly is going to be elsewhere. Sounds like old ethanol fuel gumming up the works. Now since you say the car runs like a brute you may be able to cheat and put some fuel injection cleaner in the gas. May is the key word.
Plan B which should be Plan A is this. Remove the hi-pressure pump but be careful. Make sure the engine is cold. Then put lots of paper towels under the fuel bowl to catch the fuel escaping when you remove the pump. It's held on with 5 fillister screws. Notice that the screw at the 9:00 position is a tad shorter. 10/32X1/2". The other four screws at 10/32X5/8. See my favorite shop manual. Corvette Servicing Guide available here by clicking on top of the page. NCRS store. Also known as the ST12 manual.
So remove the pump and at least spray some cleaner in it or drive it over to your neighbor Jerry Bramlett and have him rebuild the pump, etc. Good luck, John D.
