    C1 F.I. Drive cable needed...

Does anyone have any info as to who might have any these on hand ?
I had a couple ordered from CC but they are still on back order.
I only really need the inner cable, outer assembly is 5 3/4" long.

Luckily the cable broke right at my roll up door as I was warming up the car for a run !!!

    Thanks, in advance, Dave

David, I try not to do business on the forum here but my good pal Parsons does it for me.

You are fine Dave. What JD is saying he tries not to toot his own horn on the site, because Tom Parson toots it for him.

I have spoken with Mr.DeGregory, who has proved to be a prince among men !!! 2 cables are being overnighted to me in Alabama.
Hopefully the 'vette will be roaring again by tomorrow evening.

JD is one of the "good guys". Bailed me out a few months ago when I had problems with my FI drive cable.

Thanks for nice compliments. Course if they weren't pay backs would be a coming.
I wanted to write an article for "THe Restorer' about drive cables but decided against it as some of the repro drive cables ain't worth a crap and break very easily.
TIP then I am out of here. Permit me to use Duke's language. "Any brand will do" of disc brake wheel bearing grease for the drive cables. As much as possible.
David said he recently acquired his car and found out the former owner didn't have any grease on the cable. Those babies really crank on you know. 1/2 engine speed so grease the crap out of them. If the housing is kinked then good bye cable. If the hi-pressure pump is full of old gummed up gas then good bye cable.
The drive cable is like a safety fuse. It breaks when there is a problem.
Carry an extra drive cable at all times otherwise you will be stranded waiting for the flat bed.

So, here we go.... got the two cables from John, installed one, only to have it snap almost immediately !!!... John's analogy as to the cable being a fuse is extremely apt.
Stupid here did not try to spin the cable in the gear pump before final assembly ! So ... after the break, when I tried to do so the cable indicated the pump to be bound up internally. However, I managed to free it by applying a small amount of torque on the cable in a reverse direction. After this , it turns freely in the correct direction also. Your thought? seems to me like there is likely some debris in the pump chamber that needs to be gotten rid of no??
Can the pump come out for cleaning without detaching the entire Fuel meter setup?
FYI, with a second cable the car fired right up and sounds like a brute !!! but I do not want to run it any more in this condition , lest I cause permanent damage to the injection unit.
I will for sure be in touch with John to get a spare cable now that I have gone back to having just the one on hand.

                              Regards, Dave.
