    Key Buzzer / Hazard Flashers

I've been noticing a intermittent problem with my key buzzer and 4 way hazard flashers on my 74 with a standard steering column. They both intermittently quit working and then become operational again at the same time, at anytime. Turn signals and brake lights are operational regardless if the other 2 are working or not.
I've started to trace these circuits using the GM Service Manual and it looks like the only thing they have in common is T/S switch.
Before I start with further diagnosis and tear-down, I was wondering if anybody else has expecienced this issue in the past?

    THANKS

Martin, I believe your on the right track, sounds to me like the t/s switch. maybe try the. wiggling of the wires under the column and wiggle the lever for the turn signals to see if you can get the problem to happen. the key buzzer contacts are on the switch as are the 4 way flasher.

One thing that you might try. If you access to another turn signal switch unplug the steering column wires at the harmonica connector (you will not need to drop or remove the steering column from the dash). Plug in the new switch into the vehicle wiring harness. Try the hazard warning using that switch.

Re: Key Buzzer / Hazard Flashers

        Thanks guys-
Sounds like we all concur regarding the probable source of the problem is the T/S switch. I'll purchase one and try plugging it in at the column base before tearing into the column, see if in fact that corrects the issue.(sounds like a winter time project).

Any suggestions on T/S switch purchase?

Just remember that a lot of places will not allow returns on electrical parts if they have been removed from their original packaging.
