C1 speedometer Trivia

I see C&C saying the 53 to 57 speedometer cables are any where from 62 to 68 inch. Long and other e-bay sellers selling NOS cable for 53 to 57 say the same thing .So first lets see what's correct!
1. As I posted early the cable housing raping shows dark and light coils , where most repro's don't but is all the same color .
2. The original inner cable is 63 1/2 long for all 53 to 57 Corvette


So if your looking to locate the inner cable the NOS original is #1562669 you need as shown . Yes it's does fit other makes of cars but this is the one you need if you have the original housing.

Do you know when the cable in the picture was manufactured? I see it has lube instruction on the packaging.

It must be from the 50's no date on it but the grease is

(AC lubricant Type No. ST-640 is recommented ) grease lower two-thirds of the cable ONLY to avoid grease working up into speedometer. DO NOT OVERGREASE . This will insure quiet operation and long life. Be sure casing is free from sharp bends or kinks.
