    1960 defroster outlets.

I just cut out the openings in the dash pad for the defroster ducts and now I'm wondering what the finished opening should look like as seen with the defroster moldings in place? As it is now, you can see the yellow foam from the dash so I'm currious to know if this is correct or if this "cut edge" should be the same color as the dash or black or.....

Also where could I find a used set of defroster ducts(under the dash)? Mine were never reinstalled after the dash was replaced and they didn't come with the car either so I'll need a set. If someone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

I usually run a black sharpie around the edge after the trim is is. The ducts are available from severeal dealers and ebay also has them for sale alll the time. Good luck........Steven J......

I have seen this a lot and it has become the acceptable thing to do.

Does anyone know what was done at the factory?

I agree with Steven, just run a magic marker in a matching color around the inside edge of the opening. My pad is red and the exposed yellow foam looks tacky. Not sure what they did at the factory though. Over the years I've had a few original cars but didn't notice the defroster openings.
One thing to keep in mind about the outlets is that the repos are plastic and originals are die cast in zinc I believe. Rich

Thanks guys. The magic marker trick it will be then!

I'm curious too to know how original pads were cut and finished. Or was there one pad for heater equipped cars and a different pad for those without heaters?
