I think the terms you are looking for are either "enhanced" or "embellished", but even if that were the case, that is considered "Writer's License". As regards the girls, just look at his driver's permit and you have to believe they are indeed "spot on"! He's (was) a hansom dude! Otherwise, who among us can relate a story from 40+ years ago in exact detail. For one thing, it is human nature to remember mostly the good stuff, unless the bad was so bad that it left a big impression or has left physical evidence visable even today, i.e. I still have a scar on the bridge of my nose from a smashed windshield blowing past my face.
