    67 diff finish question

I know that the diff should be natural, but was told that the BOLTS holding the cover on should be black oxide or some other kind of black.

    Thoughts?

Mine are plated right now, and I have a chance to paint them black if I need to.

Chris, I think when I installed my differental cover bolts, I glass beaded them and used the Eastwood blackening kit to make them black.

Your car looks great, lots of research and hard work.. Keep the pics coming..

      Thanks, that's what I thought.

Much appreciated on the kind words. It has been a long effort for sure.

        .
Chris -- Timothy has the right idea, IMO. Here's an original off my '65 diff. I've always seen this type of headmark on the 4 or 5 diffs of the '64-7 era that I've examined closely over the years. Am sure that black phosphate was the original finish, as the threads of these 8 cover bolts are almost completely inside the carrier, and therefore not subject to oxidation.
