i am trying to match existing color on a 65 saddle dash. the available colors match the seat backs and side panels in the rear compartment but the radio side panels and dash are decidedly darker as are the skins. does anyone have experience with this and know where to obtain darker saddle. thanks in advance.

Re: c2 dash paint
From what I remember the color formula from the paint company was not very close. The formulas that exist are for lacquer and not very many places have laquer mixing banks any more. I would recomend that you find a professional painter that has acess to a mixing bank (probably in an urethane) and he can custom mix a color. This will involve doing spray out panels until you get a satisfactory match. The radio side cover or windshield lwr mld match the dash color. The 1\4 trim does not. The seat backs are vinyl and not a good item to use for a color match. An auto paint jobber can do a computer match on the paint for you but my experience is the computer can not come as close as the human eye.
I have a 65 coupe with a saddle interior so I would be happy to assist you have any more questions.- Top

Re: c2 dash paint
Tom & Stewart -- the '65 saddle interior colors did not match, even originally. Here's 2 pics of my first car, taken in April 1968 with 32,600 miles on the clock. There has to be about 4 or 5 different shades, counting door panels, seats, carpet and all the painted parts. The 1965 Corvette interior refinish paint charts show 3 different saddle shades and gloss levels.
Special note to Michael Hanson (& Loren Lundberg); note the door lock weatherstrip -- no evidence of (to quote the '65 TIM&JG) "...a yellow/brown adhesive applied with a brush ... (and)... may appear excessive in application".
